Customers call all day asking where their consignment is

The problem, in their words

We move freight across north India. Our customers call the office constantly to ask where a consignment has reached. Two people do almost nothing else all day. I want customers to be able to ask and get an accurate answer themselves, and to be told proactively when a delivery is delayed.
