Patients call after clinic hours and we lose the booking by morning

The problem, in their words

We run a four chair practice with a full appointment book. After 7pm nobody is at the front desk, but people still call to book, and by the time we call back the next morning a good number have already gone elsewhere. I want something that answers those calls, handles the routine questions about timings, consultation fee and directions, and puts a provisional appointment into our system.
