New enquiries need screening before a lawyer should spend time on them

We are a mid sized firm. Prospective clients call and describe a matter at length. Often it is not something we handle, or it is outside our jurisdiction, but a lawyer has already spent twenty minutes finding that out. I want the basic facts gathered and the matter routed to the right practice, or declined politely, before it reaches a lawyer.
